STEM Learning at GTAIS

What Is STEM?

STEM stands for Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics.
At GTAIS, students do not learn these subjects separately. Instead, STEM brings all four areas together so students can learn through real‑world projects and hands‑on activities.

Our STEM program uses an applied learning approach, which means students learn by doing. Lessons are connected to real problems and real situations.

How Students Learn in STEM

Students follow a clear learning process:

  • Problem‑based learning: Students are given a real‑life problem to solve.
  • Engineering challenges: Students design, build, and test solutions.
  • Scientific investigations: Students explore, experiment, and ask questions.
  • Math and literacy connections: Students use numbers, reading, and writing to explain their thinking.
  • Claim–Evidence–Reasoning: Students show what they learned by giving a claim, supporting it with evidence, and explaining their reasoning.

This approach helps students build creativity, confidence, teamwork, and strong critical‑thinking skills.

Technology in Learning

Technology is an important part of education at GTAIS. When used well, technology helps students:

  • Connect with information
  • Work together
  • Think creatively
  • Build digital skills for the future

Our campus has high‑speed wireless internet, and students use a variety of virtual learning tools to support and enrich their lessons.

Students also have access to shared digital devices, such as:

  • iPads
  • Laptops

These tools help students research, create projects, and communicate their ideas.

Safe and Responsible Use of Technology

At GTAIS, we want students to use technology in a safe and responsible way.

We teach students to:

  • Make good decisions online
  • Protect their personal information
  • Use technology respectfully
  • Balance screen time and healthy habits

We believe that both school and home play an important role in keeping children safe online.

Our expectations are explained clearly in our Responsible Use Protocol, which is included in the Family Handbook.

When combined with effective teaching and learning, technology has the ability to transform how students connect, collaborate and create. The school has high-speed wireless internet access and will use a variety of virtual learning resources to enrich learning. Students will have access to shared devices in class, including iPads and laptops. While we believe in the necessity to integrate technology into 21st Century learning skills, we also believe in developing safe and responsible technology consumers who can adapt to the changing digital landscape. We believe that both school and home play an equal role in ensuring children have safe and positive experience online. The school follows a clear Responsible Use protocol which is outlines in the Family Handbook.
