Health and Physical Education at GTAIS

Aligned with AERO* Standards

At GTAIS, Physical Education (PE) is an important part of a balanced, international education. Our PE program follows the AERO Health & Physical Education Standards, which are widely used by international schools and support student wellbeing, skill development, and lifelong healthy habits.

The goal of our PE program is to help students become active, healthy, and confident individuals.


Our Learning Focus

Through Physical Education, students learn about health, movement, and physical activity. They develop the skills and knowledge needed to live healthy and active lives, now and in the future.

The program focuses on helping students:

  • Understand how the body moves
  • Learn movement skills and strategies
  • Improve physical fitness
  • Practice safety and responsible behaviour
  • Make healthy choices
  • Enjoy physical activity and teamwork

Our PE program includes learning in the following areas:

Movement Skills and Strategies

  • Running, jumping, throwing, catching, and coordination
  • Games, sports, and movement activities
  • Using strategies to play fairly and effectively

Active Participation and Fitness

  • Regular physical activity
  • Improving strength, balance, and endurance
  • Understanding the importance of staying active

Health and Wellbeing

  • Learning basic health concepts
  • Making healthy lifestyle choices
  • Understanding safety during physical activity

Personal and Social Development

  • Working well with others
  • Showing respect and teamwork
  • Taking responsibility for personal effort and behaviour

How Students Learn in PE

GTAIS seeks to admit students of expatriate families residing in Shantou. Families who enroll at GTAIS agree with the school vision and mission and can benefit from the types of programs offered.
