- We welcome applications from:
- Expatriate students with foreign passports
- Students with resident cards or passports from Hong Kong, Macau, or Taiwan
- Children of overseas Chinese and returned overseas students
- GTAIS mainly serves expatriate families living in Shantou and nearby areas.
- Families who apply should support the school’s vision and mission and be able to benefit from our programs.

If you are ready to apply for admissions for your child, you can proceed to the online admissions form. You will need to fill the entire application in one sitting, and we expect it will take about 45 minutes complete. If you begin and click out of the application, your progress will not be saved, and you will need to begin again. Therefore, we recommend you collect all required documents and information before beginning.
Please note that a completed application, required supporting documents, and the application fee must be submitted before the Admissions Office will review the application.
To apply, you will need the following items:
A. Basic demographic information about your family and the applicant.
B. Current school reference’s name and official school email: GTAIS will contact the teacher directly to obtain the applicant’s reference using the required form. The reference forms must be sent back to AIS directly by the school and are kept confidential from parents. The referee must be:
- Grades 6-8 applicants: the applicant’s current / most recent core subject teacher (English, Math) or a school administrator.
- Grades 1-5 applicants: the applicant’s current / most recent teacher or a school administrator
- Early Years and Kindergarten: not required
C. Required scanned documents:
- Applicant’s passport identification page (we can only accept foreign, Hong Kong, Macau, or Taiwan passports)
- Parent’s passport identification page
- Applicant’s passport photo
- Applicant’s immunization record: GTIIT-Affiliated International School requires all enrolled students to submit documentation of vaccinations for Polio, Diphtheria, Pertussis, Tetanus, Mumps, Measles and Rubella. We recommend but do not require vaccinations for Tuberculosis, Hepatitis B, Encephalitis B, Rabies, Varicella and Meningitis
- Applicant’s official school report cards scanned into a single PDF: If you are applying mid-year, please include current year plus the full years as outlined below.
- Grades 6-8: past three full years
- Grades 2-5: past two full years
- Grade 1: reports from kindergarten, if attended
- Early Years and Kindergarten: not required
- Applicant’s Chinese visa page (may be supplied later if not available now)
D. Other required information, if applicable
- Relevant medical and allergy information
- Educational testing or disability information
- Behavioral assessments or disciplinary records

The Admissions Office will take up to 2 (two) weeks to process a completed application.
GTAIS academic year starts in September and ends in July of the following calendar year. Applicants for admission to GTAIS are strongly encouraged to apply as early as possible. The application is reviewed in light of:
- availability of seats,
- prior academic achievement and
- the school’s ability to provide adequate learning support.
Admission decisions are based on the careful examination of each student’s capacity to be successful within the content of GTAIS’s learning environment.
Parents will be informed of one of the following admission decisions via email and/or SMS:
| Accepted: Student applicant meets the admission criteria and place is available, the student will be offered a place in the appropriate grade level. |
| Waiting Pool: Student applicant meets GTAIS admission criteria but is applying for enrollment in a grade that is full; said student will be placed on the waiting pool for that grade level. Parents will be contacted if and when a vacancy of the applied grade becomes available. |
| Not Eligible: Student applicant does not meet GTAIS eligibility and requirements for admission at this time. |
If admission is offered, families are required to respond to the offer by either accepting or declining our offer of admission within the deadline.
Upon acceptance of admission offer, GTAIS will follow up with an invoice for school fees. The invoices will be issued within 5 (five) working days from the acceptance receipt.
